Getting Started Courses:

Nitrox Diver *
The  Nitty  Gritty   The  Fun  Stuff

Course:  Nitrox Diver

Introduction:  This is an entry level certification course for recreational divers wishing to utilize enriched air nitrox (EAN) as a breathing gas

Minimum Age:  15 years old

Minimum course hours:  4 hours minimum

Minimum Number of Dives:  2 Nitrox dives recommended (but not required)

Student to Instructor in Water Ratio:  8 to 1 maximum

Prerequisite Certification:  Basic diver certification and 10 logged dives or current enrollment in diver certification course

Course Objectives:  To train divers in the benefits, possible hazards, and proper procedures for using nitrox mixes from 22% to 40% oxygen content.

Qualification of Graduates:  Upon successful completion of this course, graduates may engage in diving activities utilizing EAN 22 to EAN 40 without direct supervision. And are qualified to enroll in the following courses: Advanced Nitrox Diver, Decompression Procedures Diver, and Semi-closed Rebreather Diver

 

This is an entry-level certification course for recreational divers wishing to utilize Enriched Air Nitrox (EAN) as a breathing gas.

The typical course schedule is:

Day # 1 - A half-day in the classroom in the morning, then in to the water to make the 2 dives in the afternoon.

The Dives are normally done in front of the Dive Shop you are diving with, in your own dive equipment.

A Nitrox Dive Computer will be supplied for the dives so you can compare your Dive Computer to the Nitrox Dive Computer.

This will enable you to see the big difference diving Nitrox makes on your no decompression time.


Nitrox Gas Blender *

Cost: $ 150.00

Minimum age: 18

Prerequisite Certification:

Number of Dives: 0

Course Objectives: To train candidates in the proper techniques, equipment requirements and hazards involved in blending Nitrox gases for recreational scuba.

Qualification of Graduates: Upon successful completion of this course, graduates may engage in the blending of Nitrox gases without direct supervision

 

This Course provides the training required to competently and safely blend Nitrox gases.

The typical course schedule is approximately 3 hours long. It is broken down in to three parts, Classroom discussion, practical application i.e. blending Nitrox and final exam.


CPR, O2 and 1st Aid
Combine CPR and O2, and CPR and 1st Aid Courses (see below) in one
Cost: $ 150.00, savings of $50.00


CPR and O2

The  Nitty  Gritty   The  Fun  Stuff

Course: "CPROX"

Cost: $ 100.00

Minimum Age: 10

Prerequisite Certification: none

Minimum Number of Dives: 0

Course Objectives: To train the students on the basics of CPR and Oxygen administration in a simple and easy to remember manner.

Qualification of Graduates: To save a life by administering CPR and or Oxygen


 

This course teaches the basics on how to evaluate a victim. You will also learn the basics of providing 1 person adult CPR and how to administer O2 to a breathing or non-breathing person

The typical course schedule is approximately 2 hours long and includes CPR and O2 set up administration practice.


CPR and 1st Aid
The  Nitty  Gritty   The  Fun  Stuff

Course:  CPR - 1ST

Introduction: This course teaches the basics of CPR and First Aid

Minimum Age: 15

Minimum course hours: 2+ depending on class size

Minimum Number of Dives: 0

Student to Instructor Ratio: 8 to 1

Prerequisite Certification: none

Course Objectives: To train the students on the basics of CPR and First Aid in a simple and easy to remember manner.

Qualification of Graduates: To save a life by administering CPR and or First Aid

  This course teaches the basics on how to:
  • recognize and evaluate an emergency situation and a victim.
  • How to activate the EMS system in your area.
  • The basics of providing 1 person adult CPR and basic first aid.

The typical course schedule is approximately 2 hours long and includes CPR and basic first aid practice.


Equipment 02 Service Technician
The  Nitty  Gritty   The  Fun  Stuff

Cost: $ 150.00

Minimum age: 18

Prerequisite Certification: Minimum certification as a Nitrox diver and TDI Nitrox gas blender. Provide proof of VIP certification and certification as a regulator repair technician. Provide proof of employment at a scuba facility.

Number of Dives: 0

Course Objectives: To train candidates in the proper procedures required for Oxygen equipment cleaning.

Qualification of Graduates: Upon successful completion of this course, graduates will be able to prepare scuba equipment for use with EAN.

  This Course enables the successful graduates to engage in the preparation of scuba equipment for Technical Diving Gasses.

The typical course schedule is approximately 6 hours long. It is broken down in to three parts, classroom discussion, practical application i.e. O2 cleaning of equipment and a final exam.



Solo Diver *
The  Nitty  Gritty   The  Fun  Stuff

Course:  Solo Diver

Cost: $ 200.00

Minimum age: 21 years old

Prerequisite Certification: Advanced Diver Certification and a minimum of 100 logged dives

Number of Dives: 2

Course Objectives: To train divers in the benefits, possible hazards, equipment configurations and proper procedures for Solo Diving.

Qualification of Graduates: Upon successful completion of this course, graduates may engage in solo diving activities.

What's NOT Included: Basic dive equipment

 

 

This is a Specialty level certification course for recreational divers wishing to dive Solo.

The typical course schedule is:

Day # 1 - A half-day in the classroom in the morning, then into the water to make the 2 dives in the afternoon.

The dives are normally done in front of the Dive Shop you are diving with in your own dive equipment.

A redundant air supply and a surface diver marker will be supplied for the 2 dives at no additional charge.


A 5% government sales tax will be added to all courses
